In March of 2015, Shawn Thomas created an Instagram account under the moniker, @askamillionaire. At the time, he had no business plan and no particular vision; it was merely a spontaneous idea that turned venture quickly. In his decision to engage on social media, a new opportunity was born. This opportunity was not just availed to Shawn, but also to those who found alignment with @askamillionaire and all that it would soon become.

A message from our founder, Shawn Thomas:

When I first stepped into the space of Instagram, I was entirely naïve to the world of social media. I did not realize that there are literally millions of people who use social media in ways I had not previously imagined. I came to understand the various niches that existed and began to recognize the “following” that some accounts, particularly those that centered on entertainment, fashion, music and lifestyle were capable of attaining.

Interwoven among these accounts, another niche caught my attention directly. This niche was facilitated by a host of motivational and millionaire lifestyle accounts that catered to what I refer to as the “millionaire wannabes”. These individuals are on a quest to learn the secrets to attaining not just financial freedom, but all the rewards and benefits that come along with it. More than this, they are looking for connection. They are looking for real connection that can validate their place within their individual journeys to success.

Now this was a group of people I could relate to. I knew this because I myself was a “wannabe” prior to attaining success. The difference is, back when I was in their shoes, when I was in what I call my “lost” stage, and again, when I was in my “building” stage, I did not have access to the world wide web –and there was certainly no such thing as social media. I sometimes wonder if that was a good thing or not, I’m still not sure, but what I do know, is that technological advances have sure made it easy for those with ambition to find success, and in this, I intended to play my part, both small and large.

Over the course of twelve months, I conversed with literally hundreds of thousands of people all over the world who are on a quest for business and financial success. It didn’t take long for all to see the natural relationship that began to develop between this particular people group and what myself and @askamillionaire could provide.

As the @askmillionaire account grew exponentially, I began to realize the responsibility that comes along with being the owner of this account and having so many followers. People were really listening to what I had to say. They were not just reading the words I was posting, but they were responsive and they were looking for more.

Periscope could not have come at a better time. For those of you who do not know, Periscope is an application that allows you to broadcast live via your mobile device anywhere, any time. What that did for me and my audience was to open up a direct line of communication and true interaction. Suddenly our resource for communication expanded dramatically as people could now put a face with the name. This allowed my little whimsical @askamillionaire project to take on a whole new dimension. I was now actually able to get to know people in an unobscured manner, and vice versa –and this came with even more responsibility.

People wanted resources. They wanted tools and they wanted real world advice. They were asking hoards of questions to the point where even Instagram and Periscope were not enough to satiate the need. As a result, I set up a Facebook account, a YouTube channel, and a Pinterest account and began organizing my replies to best accommodate the requests made by my audience and followers.

About 9 months into my venture, I realized something, I am not rich enough to do this for free forever, but I really love it. I care about the people I am meeting and I find great enjoyment in seeing individuals find success through the help I was providing them. Then it hit me, I have finally found something I am truly passionate about –and with the right team, the correct approach and proper implementation, I just might be able to help myself by helping others.

It is in this light that Ask A Millionaire, LLC was born.

There is a saying by Marc Anthony that goes, “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” If the last year is any indication of the future success of Ask A Millionaire, I’d say we are on the right track. I look forward to seeing it all come together and am delighted to be an integral part of the process.

Today marks the first day of what I hope to be an amazing journey. I take great pride in all things I do and am excited to see how many people we can help on their own unique journey to success.
